Long before signatures, China signed with stone. A carved seal — a chop — pressed in cinnabar-red paste was how emperors sealed edicts, how painters claimed their work, and how ordinary people marked letters and contracts. The script carved into those seals, 篆书 (zhuànshū, "seal script"), predates paper itself: its rounded, architectural strokes descend from characters cast into bronze nearly three thousand years ago.
That is why a real seal cannot simply use a modern font. Seal script follows its own structures — strokes bend to fill the square, characters balance against each other, and the border becomes part of the composition. Our generator renders your name with genuine seal-script typefaces and lets you balance the composition the way a carver would: thickening a stroke here, nudging a character there, choosing whether the characters read in red (朱文) or stand white against a red field (白文).
